How do I submit my annual report to HMRC?

To submit your annual report to HMRC you must first register as a  Digital Platform through your HMRC Government Gateway: 

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/register-to-carry-out-digital-platform-reporting

Your Platform ID, which is 15 characters long, will be provided when you register.

Once registered, you can find the correct ID under “Platform operators” within your HMRC Government Gateway

When you have your ID, login to your Bookalet account and go to Administration>Settings>Account Details where you will see the section to add your Platform ID and Platform Business Name

This will allow you to generate your XML report and submit your information.

For the next step, from the main menu please go to Reports>HMRC Digital

Here you will be able to choose the reporting year, preview a report and generate a report

 

It is advisable to preview the report before your generate it, the results will display as follows

With a closer look at the report, you will notice it is displayed under 4 headings broken down into quarters. Consideration is the amount sent to the owner, Activities is the number of nights booked, Fees is the commission you have charged and Tax is the VAT you have paid on you commission if you are VAT registered.

 

When you are ready to proceed and generate the report click the generate button, this will issue you with a warning, then click create.

The report is then available to download and submit to HMRC; once you have submitted the report, you can mark it as submitted
