Having already looked at “Taking a booking request” (which is the default setting for all newly added properties), we’ll now look at “Taking an online booking” .
Start by logging into your account and clicking on the “Properties” tab on the left hand navigation panel and then click “Edit properties”. Then navigate to the property in question and then click the “Edit” button. Scroll down to the section entitled “Status” and check the Yes radio button next to “Pre-authorise online bookings for this property”.

You have now authorised this property to accept online bookings and online payments.
To take an online payments you will also need to activate an online payment method. This is done in the “Administration” section under “Pyment methods”.

The guest clicks on the date they wish to arrive and then selects the number of nights they wish to stay for:

The guest then completes the rest of the form with their requirements and details. On completion, they will be presented with the following screen:

If you remember from the “Taking a booking request” section, when the property has not been set to pre authorise bookings, a “Booking Request” is made at this stage. However, because the property has now been set to pre authorise bookings, the guest can now proceed to make an online payment. The following screen will be shown. The exact payment methods displayed will depend on what has been set up in the Administration > Payment methods section:

In this example, we have two online payment methods set up; Worldpay and Stripe. There are several other payment gateways that Bookalet also supports. The guest then selects which payment method they wish to use. In this case Stripe:

The guest then adds their card details and clicks on the pay button. The following screen will then be displayed.

Money is subsequently tranferred directly into the property owner’s Stripe account. The booking is now complete and the deposit paid.
When the Booking is taken and paid for, the property owner will receive two emails. First, one to record the fact that a booking has been made:

Then, when payment has been made, the owner receives a second email:

The guest will also receive an email confirming the booking and the payment of the deposit:

All these email templates can be edited in the Admin area (Pro and Agent accounts only).
If you now return to the Booking section of Bookalet and review the “Active bookings” section you will see the booking has now been added to the list and shows as a yellow, “Balance outstanding” status:

Clicking on the booking will take you through to the booking detail. It is here where you manage all aspects of the booking:
